In 1936 the police force began giving Inuit employees an official rank, and in 1973 began actively recruiting more Indigenous members. In 2024, 7.5% of the RCMP were identified as Indigenous and 11.5% were minorities. WebCurrently, 124 police members provide enhanced service to 141 Indigenous communities in B.C. The services ensure Indigenous communities receive community policing services that are culturally sensitive and responsive to their particular needs.
