WebYou can downgrade. I downgraded and then combined by BBVA and PNC existing accounts after the merger. I called the agent on the phone. The key is if account numbers change is being sure all transactions clear on the account before closing it if new account number and a closing of the old account is required for the downgrade. WebGot the incentive from Natwest and switched that account to Halifax and got the incentive from Halifax a couple of days ago. Edit: and once paid you can instantly downgrade the Halifax account to a regular Current Account rather than the £3/m Reward account, so you don't have to pay the fee/bother with moving money around each month.
